Tokyo – Japanese automotive supplier Toyoda Gosei (TG) has announced that some of its products have been affected by data falsification at supplier Toray Hybrid Cord.

Toray Corp. and Toray Hybrid Cord Inc. announced 28 Nov that some of Torday Hybrid Cord’s product test data had been falsified.

Following the announcement, Toyoda Gosei launched an investigation into whether its products have been affected.

“It was found that hose reinforcing fibres supplied by Toray Hybrid Cord to Toyoda Gosei included some for which test data had been falsified, a TG announcement said

These materials, it added, “had been used in some of Toyoda Gosei’s brake hoses, oil hoses, radiator hoses, and water hoses.”.

However, the company said it had determined that the issue was not an “immediate problem”, as the data falsification was “a minor deviation from standards”.

Additionally, the Japanese automotive supplier said no problems had occurred during regular performance tests of Toyoda Gosei products.

“With priority on consumer safety and security, Toyoda Gosei is currently confirming that its products comply with customer standards,” TG added.
