Pune, India – Bridgestone India Pvt. Ltd is to invest £304 million (€259 million) over the next five years at its tire plants in its Pune, Chakan and Indore, Kheda, India, the Bridgestone Corp. company has announced.
This investment is intended to raise production capacity by around 15,000 tires per day, bringing total daily production from both plants to approximately 41,000 tires by 2022, said an 8 Aug statement.
The programme will also increase the size production mix at both plants in line with local vehicle-market trends models and is expected to create 450 skilled jobs.
The investment shows Bridgestone’s commitment to expanding its footprint in India’s fast-growing automotive market, according to Kazutoshi Oyama, executive director of Bridgestone India, which started its operations in 1996.
The spend, he added, “will enable Bridgestone India to be equipped with advanced manufacturing technology and processes that will allow us to better serve our customers with products of superior quality.”
“I am also excited about the benefits it will bring to our local community and team members, as further evidence of Bridgestone’s commitment to contribute to the evolution of the societies in each region in which we operate in,” Oyama further commented.
