Tokyo – Japanese speciality chemicals company Shin-Estu Chemical Co. has reported a significant growth in its silicones business in the first quarter of its 2018 financial year.
During the three months to end of June, the supplier reported a 10% increase in sales of silicones to just under Yen50 billion (€383 million), compared to the same period the previous year.
Operating income for the segment rose 18.9% to over Yen12 billion for the period.
In Japan, said the company, shipments of production applications for cosmetic, on-board cars and electronic equipment continued to be firm, said Shin-Estu.
Globally, shipments of functional products for the US, Europe and Asia did well while sales of general-purpose products also increased.
