Moscow – PAO Sibur Holding has achieved a 15.2% year-on-year increase in elastomers sales volumes, the Russian gas processing and petrochemicals company said in a first quarter trading update.
For the three months ended 31 Mar, sales volumes at Sibur’s elastomers unit came in at 113 kilotonnes, compared to 130kt in the same period last year, said the statement issued 30 May.
The unit is part of Sibur’s Plastics, Elastomers & Intermediates business, which reported a 14.2% year-on-year rise in external segment revenue to RR38,233 million (€599 million). The gain was partly due to higher elastomers revenues helped by stronger pricing.
“A significant increase in selling prices resulted from spiked Asian demand and the respective increase in our commodity rubber capacity load,” said Sibur.
