Itatiaia, Brazil – VMI's South America subsidiary has opened a new facility in the city of Itatiaia, half way between Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, the Dutch tire machinery supplier announced 17 May.
VMI South American Ltda relocated to the new facility which is built in an area of 1,350 square metres and includes workshop and office spaces.
The unit is the service hub for all VMI equipment users in South America, with direct spare parts supply from own stock.
The Itatiaia facility also includes a depot repair facility for maintenance and repair of VMI’s mechanical tire building & shaping drums.
The unit will also serve as the production-assembly location for VMI’s Retrax programme of tire retreading machines for that region.
VMI Retrax is a machine for retread cushion gum extrusion smearing.
