Falls Church, Virginia – The US Tire Retread & Repair Information Bureau (TRIB) said it is disappointed with the International Trade Commission's 22 Feb decision not to levy countervailing and antidumping duties against truck and bus tires imported from China.
"Thousands of US jobs in the retreading and related industries are being threatened by dumping and unfair subsidies on truck and bus tires produced in China," TRIB managing director David Stevens said in a 14 March press release.
"The retread industry will continue to focus on delivering superior products to all customers and providing the best cost-per-mile savings while maintaining massive environmental benefits delivered through the retreading process," Stevens said.
TRIB is exploring all the available options to promote and defend the retread industry at a critical time in the industry's history, it said.
Weekly conference calls between TRIB directors, as well as a face-to-face board meeting the week of 20 March, will help TRIB develop a plan of action, it said.
The ITC voted 3-2 against finding material injury caused to the domestic tire industry because of the Chinese truck and bus tire imports.
