Firestone Building Products to buy silicone roofing company

Seattle, Washington – Firestone Building Products Co. LLC has reached an agreement to acquire silicone roofing systems company Gaco Western in Seattle, Washington, Firestone announced 16 Feb.
Founded in 1955, Gaco produces silicone polyurethanes, epoxies and acrylic liquid coatings for roofs; decking and waterproofing products. The company has a manufacturing, research and development facility in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
The acquisition, said Firestone, strengthens the company’s position in commercial roofing and offers positions in residential and commercial building products.
Firestone Building Products is part of Bridgestone Americas.
“This acquisition supports our strategic plan to penetrate high-growth adjacent product segments,” said Tim Dunn, president of Firestone Building Products.
Financial details of the transaction are not being disclosed. The acquisition is expected to be completed before the end of the first quarter of 2017.
