Cologne, Germany — Sealing, adhesive & casting equipment and materials firm Sonderhoff has added a new 500 square metre production hall at its Italian subsidiary in Oggiono, 30 km north of Milan.
Increasing the production area from 1,000 square metres to 1,500 square metres will support further Italian business growth in one-off and serial contract sealing, adhesive & casting production services. It also allows the firm’s GekoSpider self-adhesive foam seal materials, to be made with a higher degree of automation than previously, Sonderhoff said.
Sonderhoff also expects continuing sales growth in polyurethane and silicone based foam sealing, adhesive and casting materials in Italy through Sonderhoff Italia, as well as in multi-component low-pressure mixing and dosing lines from Sonderhoff Engineering in Horbranz, Austria for formed in-place foam gaskets.
Sonderhoff Italia has also added a new compact Smart-M dosing cell to established contract production facilities. With 500 x 600 x 250 mm traverse area for its linear robot, the cell will support acquisition of new customers in telecommunications, medical and electronics areas, Sonderhoff added.
Sonderhoff showed new FC fast cure and LE low-VOC (volatile organic compound) emission and low fogging versions of established Fermapor K31 compact skinned foamed PU sealing materials at K 2016 last October.
Axel Erken, managing director of Sonderhoff Chemicals GmbH in Cologne has additionally headed Sonderhoff Italia for just over one year.
