Kraiburg TPEs help BMW win award
Düsseldorf, Germany – A joint product developed by the BMW group and Kraiburg TPE has won the “body interior” SPE Award 2016 of the International Society of Plastic Engineers.
The BMW group received the award, on 17 Oct, for a glove compartment cover using thin-film technology with a soft touch texture. This was based on thermoplastic elastomer technology developed by Kraiburg TPE.
According to Kraiburg, a special multi-component production technology gives the glove compartment cover a “soft and pleasant” texture.
“In-mould decoration of the TPE, which has a low shore hardness, also compensates for areas of the component with different thicknesses. The application is produced in an innovative cube mould,” it added.
