Essen, Germany – Evonik has opened a new silanes “competence centre” at its Rheinfelden site in Germany as part of its extended research and development in the sector.
The company said it had invested a “low two-digit million euro” amount in the two-year construction project.
The centre’s building has 3,500 m² of space and currently employs 100 staff.
As well as research and devlopment, the new competence centre will also be home to the applied technology, analytics, and quality management departments.
“We have created optimum working conditions with short distances between the workplaces, which favours collaboration and encourages employees to share ideas and experiences,” said Johannes Ohmer, member of the board of management Evonik Resource Efficiency GmbH.
Evonik produces silanes at sites in Germany, Belgium, China, and the US.
