Columbia, South Carolina – Rubber and plastics recycler Viva Holdings Group Inc. is planning to build a $28-million (€25-million) plant in Berkeley County, South Carolina, according to a company filing with the Commerce Department on 12 May.
Through its subsidiary Viva TPE Products LLC, the US group will manufacture semi-finished rubber goods and injection-moulded finished products using recycled rubber and plastics.
The products are mainly for export to China as well as domestic use in the US.
The company said that its proprietary technologies use a combination of recycled rubber and recycled plastics from post-industrial and post-consumer sources.
The first phase of the development is expected to create 200 new jobs, with potential for additional expansion, the company said.
The plan involves the renovation of a 177,000-square-foot industrial site in St. Stephen, South Carolina.
