New Delhi – Apollo Tyres Ltd has announced its entry into the two-wheeler tire segment in India, with the launch of its Acti series of two wheeler tires, the company announced 7 March.
According to Apollo, the Acti series, which has been designed for bikes and scooters and developed at the company’s global R&D centre in Chennai, would cover nearly 85 percent of the replacement market for two-wheeler tires in India.
“This is a milestone for Apollo Tyres as the entry into the two-wheeler segment makes the company a full-range player,” said Onkar Kanwar, chairman, Apollo Tyres.
According to Apollo, India has roughly 120 million two-wheelers.
The two-wheeler category, is growing at a CAGR of 8.5 percent in India, and offer high potential for tire manufacturers, Apollo said.
“Our R&D and product team have spent over two years in developing the two-wheeler tires, which are best suited for the diverse Indian road conditions,” said Neeraj Kanwar, vice chairman & managing director, Apollo Tyres Ltd at the launch ceremony.
The Apollo Acti series are claimed to have high levels of cornering stability which Apollo said was essential in Indian driving conditions.
“Made with new age polymers-based high mileage tread compound, the tubeless and tube type tires have stress-free casing structure with extra protection at tread and bead area,” Apollo added.
