Nuremberg, Germany – Latex, rubber and plastics company Trinseo has won the Deutsche Kautschuk-Gesellschaft's DKG Product Award 2015 for its multi-functionalised oil-extended solution styrene butadiene rubber (S-SBR).
The German rubber society prize was awarded on 29 June during the opening ceremony for the German Rubber Conference DKT 2015 / International Rubber Conference IRC 2015.
Trinseo manufactures functionalised S-SBR at its site in Schkopau, Germany. The product is said to offer excellent rolling resistance, wet grip and abrasion resistance: giving tires: allowing a more optimised set of tire properties that better meet increasingly stringent tire-labelling and consumer requirements.
The new developed multi-functionalised synthetic rubber, claims Trinseo, offers "an immense opportunity for improved sustainability in tires, offering a significant potential for reducing the rolling resistance of passenger car tires and therefore the world's CO2 emissions."
"The new multi-functionalised S-SBR, along with its benefits to tire manufacturers and end consumers, is a direct result of this dedication and drive for innovation,” said Francesca Reverberi, global business director, synthetic rubber at Trinseo.
The DKG award is intended to recognise outstanding products and developments in the field of elastomer and upstream products.
