London's youngsters get Cooper Tire support
ERJ staff report (TP)
Melksham, UK – Cooper Tire Europe, the ‘Official Tyre of Arsenal Football Club’ in London, welcomed 10 youngsters from Arsenal’s ‘Premier League Kicks’ programme as guests to its game against Besiktas in the Champions League on 27 August.
The Premier League Kicks team represented Arsenal in an Under 16s tournament against Millwall, in east London, and Green Island FC, from Belfast, on 2 August in Bellingham, south east London, where the Arsenal boys put in some “fine performances” to claim victory.
Arsenal in the Community runs the Premier League Kicks initiative in Camden, Islington, Westminster and Hackney over six different sites in London, six days a week. One of the main aims of ‘Kicks’ is to encourage volunteering and create routes into education, training and employment.
‘Kicks’ is targeted at young people living in communities where they are considered to be more vulnerable to crime either as victims or potential offenders.
A key objective is to break down barriers between the police and young people and reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in the targeted areas. ‘Kicks’ proactively identifies project locations and has seen some positive results including pathways to employment and driving down anti-social behaviour in the local community.
Cooper Tire Europe’s partnership with Arsenal Football Club began just ahead of the 2014/15 Barclays Premier League season. This exclusive sponsorship designates the Cooper brand as the first ‘Official Tyre of Arsenal Football Club’ for Europe, Russia, Middle East, South Africa and selected North African countries.
Marketing communications manager for Cooper Tire Europe Sarah McRoberts said: “The partnership with Arsenal Football Club that Cooper Tire Europe has embarked upon this year is very exciting and we want to support the Club’s official charity – the Arsenal Foundation – whenever possible.”
