Hamburg, Germany – Distributor Biesterfeld Plastic GmbH is expanding its position in the European performance rubber sector, helped by its integration of Küttner GmbH, according to a statement from the Hamburg-based company.
Since the acquisition of Küttner in January 2013, Biesterfeld Plastic said it had significantly expanded the product portfolio of the performance rubber business, which is now generating sales of over €30 million in Europe.
Römerberg, Germany-based Küttner is operating as an independent business unit within Biesterfeld Plastic, focusing mainly on the rubber-processing and wire & cable extrusion markets.
“From our base in Römerberg, we will be pressing ahead with the extension of our performance rubber activities throughout Europe,” said Sascha Hennig, manager of the European performance rubber business unit.
The rubber business, noted Hennig, will leverage its position gained from the purchase of the business activities of SMPC (Spécialités et Matières Premières du Caoutchouc) SA of France three years ago.
“The integration of products from Küttner GmbH and SMPC.’s suppliers into the existing portfolio of Biesterfeld Plastic GmbH has resulted in a complete range of rubber polymers and elastomers across Europe,”. added a Biesterfeld Plastic statement.

Biesterfeld Plastic, part of Biesterfeld AG, is a distributor for the European plastic and rubber Industries, with distribution partnerships in 42 countries.
