Lehmann & Voss takes on European distribution for Polymer Dynamix
ERJ staff report (TP)
Hamburg, Germany – Polymer Dynamix LLC and Lehmann & Voss & Co. have agreed to jointly market the product lines EverGlide MB, EverGlide SG and DynaSil FR within the EU and Switzerland.
The news was announced yesterday (11 March) but is effective 1 January.
The EverGlide MB line includes thermoplastic polymer products and high molecular weight siloxanes, which affect both the tribological properties of the material, and the internal and external lubrication for processing polymers.
The flow properties of the polymer are improved, which enable longer flow paths and the realisation of more complex components using injection moulding. As a processing aid in the extrusion process, EverGlide optimises material distribution and flow-rate, and extends machine lifespans by reducing wear.
Torsten Clasen, head of the Masterbatch team and project manager for this product line at Lehmann & Voss, said: "With the newly developed EverGlide SG line, the tribological properties of high-temperature materials such as PPS [polyphenylene sulfide] or PEEK [polyether ether ketone] can now be influenced while minimising abrasive wear at the same time."
The DynaSil FR line includes products that perform the synergist function in polymers, for fire protection systems with and without halogen content. This significantly reduces the use of antimony trioxide, and in some cases, it can be omitted entirely. Because antimony trioxide is classified as a hazardous substance, possible alternatives play an increasingly significant role and drastically simplify the compounding process of flame retardant products.
The chemical composition of the DynaSil FR line also has two additional side effects which are significant to the compounding process of highly loaded flame retardants. First, it acts as an interior lubricant, and secondly, it increases the flexibility of the end product, making it possible to eliminate the use of additional flow aids or softeners.
