Maxxis expands OE tire partnership with KTM
ERJ staff report (TP)
Mattighofen, Austria / Suffolk, UK − Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM have reinforced their growing commitment to Maxxis by adding the all new FREERIDE to the expanding number of machines fitted with Maxxis’ premium off road rubber as Original Equipment (OE).
Maxxis currently supply the EXC range with the FIM-approved MaxxEnduro Tyre, to provide “the ultimate in grip and control” for their range of Enduro machines.
The new KTM FREERIDE range features a “punchy” 2-Stroke 250, 350 4-Stroke and a Lithium-ion powered Electric model. The company describes it as “part beginners' bike, part experts' play bike and probably the ideal green lane machine. Essentially, KTM has reinvented the trail bike”.
All are fitted with the new TrialMaxx tire, designed exclusively for KTM. It is a hybrid tire and features an extreme-trail soft compound and style; with looser packed and deeper knobs.
Maxxis partnership with KTM began with the EXC range, an association forged from the FIM World Enduro Championship.
The MaxxEnduro tires are also fitted as OE to all 15 models in the KTM EXC range, from the 125 EXC − the ideal bike for youngsters in the E1 racing class, to the 500 EXC "6 Days" Edition − the ultimate in 4-stroke performance, specially designed for the ISDE (International Six Days Enduro), the world’s most demanding Enduro competition.
Maxxis also has OEM tire deals with a wide range of other manufacturers, including Honda, Polaris, Suzuki and Yamaha.
