Thailand and Malaysia to collaborate on Rubber City
ERJ staff report (BC)
Bangkok, Thailand – Thailand and Malaysia have agreed to cooperate on a “Rubber City” project, located on the countries’ common border, and aimed at developing the rubber industries of both countries.
Commerce Minister Niwatthamrong Boonsongpaisarn is quoted by the National News Bureau of Thailand as hoping that the project will help boost rubber price in Thailand.
Niwatthamrong said on 2 October that he had recently talked with Malaysian International Trade and Industry Minister Dato Sri Mustapa bin Mohamed on trade and investment cooperation.
Thailand is a principal source of raw materials for Malaysia’s rubber industry.
