ERJ staff report (BC)
Akron, Ohio –The Hygenic Corporation (HC) has launched Hyperform elastomeric tubing as a “customisable” replacement for silicone or latex tubing.
According to the company, Hyperform has been tested successfully to ISO 10993 standards for various medical applications. HC cites the absence of the curatives required in synthetic rubbers as contributing to a lower “extractable” rate in finished Hyperform products, facilitating design to ASTM and/or FDA standards.
The company notes that, many healthcare institutions are striving to limit the use of products containing latex and need a non-latex offering.
The tubing is manufactured on a custom order basis, in outside diameters up to 12.7mm. It can be made opaque, or translucent in a range of standard colours (including clear).
