Commercial production of nitrile rubber to start in September at Port Neches facility
Port Neches, Texas – Lion Elastomers has announced plans to expand its production facility in Port Neches to add manufacturing capability for nitrile rubber (NBR).
The move will enable the company to support domestic demand and export markets for NBR through leveraging its “large integrated emulsion rubber platform” at Port Neches."
Target markets for NRB include flooring/mats, custom compounding, automotive & industrial hose, gaskets & seals and PVC modification, Lion Elastomers said 26 Feb.
“NBR will expand the value that Lion Elastomers can bring to existing Royalene EPDM and SBR customers,” said Kho Irani, president and CEO.
The added capacity will make Lion “a strong domestic supplier” for the material which is mostly imported into the US, Irani added.
Lion Elastomers is targeting commercial production to begin in September with further expansion and diversity of offerings to be subsequently added.
