Bridgestone opens tire retread plant in Osaka
ERJ staff report (LMH)
Osaka, Japan – Bridgestone Corp. has opened a plant in Osaka, Japan for used-tire recycling and retreading, according to Japanese news site Nikkei.
The tire maker consolidated two plants to create one of its largest domestic recycling centres, Nikkei said.
The 7000 m² plant will make retreads from old bus and truck tires. The plant’s capacity is 3000 units per month, 30% more than the combined total of two previous plants, Nikkei reported. Tires that cannot be retreaded will be shredded and sold as fuel.
