IISRP elects Ube Industries executive president for 2013-2014

San Francisco, USA – Shinobu Watanabe, the president of Ube Industries’ chemicals and plastics operation, has been elected “president international” of the International Institute of Synthetic Rubber Producers (IISRP) for the year 2013-2014 at the association’s 54th annual meeting.
Watanabe succeeds John Lyon, global vice president, butyl, of ExxonMobil Chemical Company.
Shinobu Watanabe joined Ube Industries in April 1977 after graduating from Osaka University. He became chairman, Ube Corporation Europe S.A. and Ube Chemicals Europe S.A. in 1999. Since then he has held several senior management assignments in Europe and more recently in Japan, where in June 2009 he became managing executive officer, vice president, Specialty Chemicals & Products Company, Ube Industries, Ltd.
In April 2010 he became president, specialty Chemicals & Products Company, Ube Industries, Ltd. and assumed his current position in April 2013.
