Michelin to start tire production in India mid-2013
ERJ staff report (BC)
Chennai, India – Michelin hopes to roll out truck radial tires from its Tamil Nadu plant “some time during the middle of 2013”, the Indo-Asian News Service reports a senior company official as having said.
Prashant Prabhu, Michelin Group’s president for Africa, India and Middle East told reporters this at the company's launch of Tamil Nadu travel guide.
Commercial operations were scheduled to start by the end of 2012, but Prabhu declined to comment on the reasons for the delay.
The 117 hectare plant, located around 50km from Chennai, would be Michelin's largest facility in the world in terms of area, company officials had earlier said.
