Indian commodity exchange takes record rubber deliveries
ERJ staff report (BC)
Kochi, India – The National Multi-Commodity Exchange (NMCE) of India saw its largest delivery of rubber in January, reports the Times of India.
"It was 1606 tonnes in January 2013 as against 890 tonnes in January 2012, an increase of 80.5%. Both producers and suppliers have benefitted [from an attractive exchange price],” NMCE said in a statement.
NMCE uses a certified warehouse in Kerala, close to rubber producing areas at Aluva, Ernakulum, Kakkanad, Kakkancherry, Kozhikode, Palakkadu, Piravom Road and Thrissur.
A joint quality assurance team consisting of a Rubber Board quality expert, a regional officer of the Central Warehousing Corporation and an NMCE representative submits independent quality reports and guides warehouse managers and staff on rubber quality.
