Second tire shipment from Arizona to England infested with black widow spiders
ERJ staff report (BC)
New York - A shipment of tires to a marine services company in England was found to be infested with hundreds of black widow spiders, reports Philip Caulfield of the New York Daily News. A similar infestation had been discovered in mid-December 2012.
Company officials at Fender Marine said a brood of spider eggs hatched inside the container during its 5,000 mile journey to the company's headquarters in Norwich.
Exterminators were brought in to fumigate the container, the company said.
