Petlas to boost farm tire capacity
ERJ staff report (LMH)
Kirsehir, Turkey - Petlas Tire Corp. is planning to expand capacity for radial tractor and implement tires at its plant in Kirsehir by at least 50 percent in response to growing demand for its products from European and North American customers.
Petlas did not divulge the value or timing of the expansion but said capacity at the 37-year-old plant has doubled of late to 300 000 units annually. The investment will allow the tire maker to expand its portfolio, as well, with larger and wider tires, the company said.
Petlas lists farm tires up to 50 inches in rim diameter, 900 millimeters width and 6.5 feet in outside diameter, according to the firm's online catalog. The firm sells agricultural tires under the Petlas and Starmaxx names.
The company's plant occupies 3.2 million square feet and employs 2,300, said Petlas, which makes a full range of car, light truck, medium/heavy truck, industrial, OTR and aircraft tires at the plant as well.
