Tokyo - Sumitomo Rubber is reportedly planning to invest around yen 40,000 milllion (Euro 390 million) to build a tyre plant in Turkey. The plant, to be located in Cankiri, will make passenger car tyres. The news comes from the Nikkei newspaper. Sumitomo did not refer to the project on its website in either the Japanese or English language versions.
Construction will begin next year (2013) and the capacity will come on stream in phases from 2014 to 2015. Tyres from the plant will be sold mainly in the European and Middle East regions, said the newspaper. It said capacity data is not yet finalised
