ERJ staff report (DS)
Kuala Lumpur -- The ANRPC's NR production has showed significantly reduced growth in August 2012 at the rate of 1.4 percent against to 8.3 percent in August 2011. The low production trend is expected to continue in October 2012 with a decline in NR production to 915,000 in October 2012 against 951,000 tons in October 2011.
The total of NR imports by ANRPC's member countries has been revised upwards to a volume of 4.202 million tons during the year 2012 as compared to 4.098 million tons as reported in a month ago. On the other hand, the NR consumption of the year 2012 has been adjusted downward to 6.463 million tons as compared to 6.486 million tons as reported in July 2012.
ANRPC said the supply of NR in the world will be affected by the statement by the International Tripartite Rubber Council (ITRC), comprising the three largest natural rubber producing countries (i.e. Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia), in relation to its “Agreed Export Tonnage Schemeâ€. The scheme highlights the withdrawal of 300,000 tonnes of natural rubber exports by the Above mentioned three member countries of ITRC and the acceleration of a replanting programme which will remove mature trees from 100,000 hectares of land.
