India produced more rubber In 2011-2012

Kolkata, India - Indian production of natural rubber in the 12 months to 30 March 2012 reached 903,700 tonnes compared to 861,950
tonnes during 2010-11. The projection for the coming 12 months is 942,000 tonnes.
Consumption in the fiscal year 2011-2012 was 964,415 tonnes with a growth of 1.8 percent as against 947,715 tonnes during
2010-11. The forecast for 2012-13 fiscal is for 1.006 million tonnes.
In terms of synthetic rubber, India consumed a total of 423,350 tonnes in the 12-month period, an increase of 2.8 percent on the figure of 411,830 reported a year ago. Of this, SBR contributed 185,265 tonnes; BR contributed 134,630 tonnes and other elastomers contributed 103,455 tonnes.
Production of SR in the 12 months amounted to 110,600 tonnes, up by just 0.2 percent on the previous year
