Bridgestone breaks ground on Vietnam plant
ERJ staff report (DS)
Tokyo -- Bridgestone Corp. has held a groundbreaking ceremony in the Dinh Vu Industrial Zone of Hai Phong City, Vietnam, where the Bridgestone Group plans to build a new passenger radial tyre plant. This will be the company's first tyre production facility in Vietnam.
The plant is due on stream in March 2014 and will make passenger car radial tyres. The plant is planned to be completed in the first half of 2016 with a production capacity of 24,700 units per day.
The new plant will serve as an export base for replacement tyres sold in Europe, North America and Japan. Bridgestone has currently increased its production capacities at the Nong Khae Plant in Thailand and the Karawang Plant in Indonesia to supply tyres to these markets.
