ContiTech first to offer flexographic printing plates on rolls
ERJ staff report (LMH)
Hanover, Germany -- ContiTech Elastomer Coatings says it is the first producer of printing blankets in the world to manufacture solvent-free printing plates by the roll for use on flexible packaging.
Its newly developed printing plates can be used to develop packaging materials for sweets, chocolate and other food products. The company said that packaging has a major role to play in the marketing of these foods therefore complex typographical designs and a host of different colours and effects are important.
ContiTech said it is now operating in this market with a complete line of printing plates that are particularly efficient and eco-friendly to use. The new range of products comprises four different laserline flexographic printing plates.
“All Conti Laserline flexographic printing plates are considerably longer lasting than comparable products thanks to their low abrasive wear,†said Dr. Thomas Perkovic, head of the printing blankets section at ContiTech Elastomer Coatings.
Conti integrated a specially engineered compressible layer into the printing plates, which it claims gives an even print impression, optimum ink transfer and high-resolution laser engraving technology. The new technique also allows users to do without expensive foam adhesive tapes.
