BST provides grants to families of workers killed in fire

Rayong, Thailand - BST Elastomer Co. Ltd has paid out funeral expenses to the families of all 11 people killed in a 5 May fire at its Map Ta Phut, Thailand plant. Of the 11 dead, seven were company employees and four were contractors.
The family of each deceased employee will receive a special contribution of Baht 1 million (Euro 25 000) from the company in addition to 36-months of current salary compensation, BTS said in a 12 May news release.
BTS Elastomers said it will also take care of the education of the deceased employees' children up to a bachelor degree. The contractors families will receive a Baht 500 000 contribution. BTS also notes that it assumes full medical expenses for all injured and as of 12 May, seven people remain in hospital - three employees and four contractors.
Chaiyot Wongphyat, managing director of BST Elastomers Co. Ltd said that the company deeply regrets the unfortunate accident and confirms it is taking responsibility for the incident.
BST Elastomers produces synthetic rubbers for automobile tyres, automobile parts, shoe soles, sporting goods, and other rubber products.
