More Hevea planting in Philippines Aklan Province

Kalibo, Aklan, Philippines -- The provincial government of Aklan will be planting 4,000 rubber tree seedlings during 2012. According to the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg) here, the rubber tree seedlings, sourced from Mindanao, will be planted in Castillo, Makato, Aklan in a lot owned by the provincial government.
The provincial government is also planning to put up a processing plant complete with required machines and planning to enlist the expertise of the Provincial Cooperative Office in marketing the rubber tree product in the future.
The plantation in Altavas, according to OPA, had existed since the 40's with no harvesting history.
