Kottayam, Kerala, India - Production of Natural Rubber
(NR) in India during
December 2011 increased to
106,800 tonnes as against the
production of 103,000 tonnes during
December 2010. The cumulative
production during the first nine months of
the current fiscal year was 681,900 tonnes
compared to 651,150 tonnes during the
corresponding period of the previous year
registering a growth of 4.7 percent.
Synthetic Rubber (SR) production during
December'11 increased to 10,503 tonnes
from 8,636 tonnes during November'11.
The aggregate production of SR during
the first nine months of 2011-12
increased to 82,481 tonnes compared
to 81,504 tonnes during the same period
of the previous year.
In terms of consumption, India consumed 37,315 tonnes of SR during
December'11 as against 36,345 tonnes
during November'11. The consumption
of SR during the first three quarters of
the current financial year increased to
318,010 tonnes compared to
306,620 tonnes during the corresponding
period of the previous year.
Consumption of NR by the rubber goods
manufacturing industry in the country
during December'11 was 84,795 tonnes
compared to 82,440 tonnes during
November'11. The total consumption
during the first three quarters of the
current financial year was 719,215 tonnes
as against 708,705 tonnes during the
corresponding period of the previous year, registering a growth of 1.5 percent.
The
rate of growth in consumption in the auto
tyre manufacturing sector during the first
nine months of the current financial year
was 5.9 percent as against 4.1 percent attained
during the same period of the previous
year, whereas non-tyre sector registered
a negative growth of 5.9 percent compared to
a negative growth of 1.4 percent in the same
period of the previous year. The
consumption provisionally estimated for
January'12 is 82,000 tonnes.
