Bridgestone to add OTR mining tyre plant in Thailand

Tokyo - Bridgestone Corp is to build a new plant in Thailand for the production of off-the-road radial tyres for construction and mining vehicles (ORRs). Bridgestone will also start production of steel cord used in ORRs, in its subsidiary for manufacturing steel cord in Thailand.
The total investment for the new plant is approximately ¥50.0 billion (euro 467 million), and production will begin in the 1st half of 2015. Production capacity at the new plant is expected to reach approximately 85 tons per day by the 1st half of 2019, when scheduled capacity increases are completed.
Bridgestone suggested that the plant will make tyres up to size 51 inches, but not above that size.
