London -- Rubber prices jumped overnight in Tokyo and Singapore. On Tokyo's Tocom Exchange, prices for the six-month contract rose above $4 during the day, but then fell back to close at yen 305 ($3.95) per kg on Friday 20 January. Shorter-dated prices also jumped, but then declined to close at at yen 298.
In Singapore, TSR20 for June delivery was trading up by 6 cents at $3.82 toward the market close. Short-dated contracts also rose by about 5 cents, trading around $3.75 a few minutes before the close.
In India, NMCE said February deliveries rose by Rs2 to close at Rs 197 ($3.91).
In China the Shanghai Futures Exchange saw March 2012 deliveries rise by almost a yuan to close at Yuan 28.2 ($4.46) per kilo.
