Cabot to launch 'Transfinity' masterbatches
ERJ staff report (DS)
Boston, Massachusetts -- Cabot is launching a process which mixes carbon black with rubber latex, in order to achieve exceptionally high levels of dispersion within the material. The latex is then processed into solid rubber, to create a rubber masterbatch with excellent levels of filler dispersion.
The material is being launched under the name of Transfinity Elastomer Composite. Cabot said, "In the mining, defense, automotive and aerospace industries, customers can use Transfinity materials to engineer significantly longer lasting and/or smaller products for demanding applications."
“The transformational performance of Transfinity products has been validated in tyre and defence applications, and we are on a path to commercialisation in those markets,†said Sameer Bharadwaj, general manager, Cabot Elastomer Composites.
