German group highlights opportunities in emerging markets and rising interest in retrofit solutions
Laatzen, Germany - German machinery maker KraussMaffei Extrusion has reported a “dynamic tire market” and demand growing for its production technologies, new machinery and retrofit solutions.
“The international tire market remains dynamic,” said Gerard Nijman, senior technical expert tire & rubber at KraussMaffei Extrusion, pointing to growth in India, Korea, eastern Europe and Africa.
Among other factors, KraussMaffei pointed to rising vehicle ownership as a key driver, with significant growth potential in developing markets.
Furthermore, electrification and car-sharing are changing requirements for tire production, as manufacturers increase regional production to reduce costs and supply-chain risks.
In a 16 March release, the company added that international visitors to the Tire Tech Expo, held 3-5 March in Hanover, had shown particular interest in its multiplex and rollerhead technologies.
KraussMaffei claimed that its multiplex systems enable “high-precision” co-extrusion of rubber components, making a "decisive contribution" to productivity and efficiency.
Meanwhile, the rollerhead systems, continued the German supplier, are suited to "cost-effective production of components for passenger car and truck & bus tires."
The machinery company also highlighted growing demand for retrofit solutions, as customers seek to upgrade existing equipment.
“Existing lines and extruders will be retrofitted… in conjunction with a system inspection,” stated Nijman, citing new service offerings including QR code-based support for faster response times.
Looking ahead, KraussMaffei said feedback from customers and partners at the Tire Tech Expo was “positive”, supporting its outlook for continued growth in the global tire market.
