Kerala conference focusses on climate change

Kottayam, Kerala, India -- The 24th Kerala Science Congress being held from 29 to 31 January 2012, under the joint auspices of the Kerala State Council for Science Technology & Environment and the Rubber Board at the Rubber Research Institute of India, Kottayam, will focus on the impact of climate Change on plantation crops and spices.
The main discussion will be concentrating on the changes brought about by global warming, increase in carbon dioxide content of the atmosphere, floods, droughts etc, in the productivity of plantation crops as well as quality of spices. A compendium of papers on the research achievements in the field of scientific intervention to mitigate problems created by climate change, will be published on the occasion.
The announcement is significant, because climate change has not historically been emphasised in India.
