Motherson Sumi sees sales rise, profits fall in first half

Delhi, India -- Diversified Indian manufacturer Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd (MSS) reported higher sales, but lower profits in both the three months and six months to 30 Sept 2011. The company generates around 90 percent of its sales by selling industrial components into the automotive segment.
Among a wide range of automotive and non-automotive products, the group manufactures extruded rubber components and has in house rubber mixing facilities. It has a non tyre related rubber mixing plant in Australia currrently having 1000 formulations which include 15 different polymers.
In the three months MSS reported sales of Rs 23,386 million (euro 347 million), up from Rs 19 576 reported a year earlier. In the six months, sales rose to Rs 46,388 million from Rs 38,625 million.
Operating profit pre-exceptionals in the three months was Rs 625 million, down from Rs 1504 million. In the six months, the same figue was down to 2023 million from Rs 2814 million.
