Bridgestone updates mid-term management plan

Tokyo -- Bridgestone Corp has set a return on Assets target of 6 percent for 2012 with better returns in the years to 2016. The update comes with the publication of the company's Mid-Term Management Plan for 2011 (MTP2011), which covers the period from 2011 - 2016.
To achieve this im[provement, the comapny aims to increase the revenue per tyre through added value and high value products. The company mentioned by name, categories such as Runflat tyres*, Ultra High Performance (UHP) tyres, winter tyres in the consumer segment and an intentino to offer better service and retread activities in the commercial segment. In speciality tyres, Bridgestone aims to build its business in large and ultra-large off-the-road radial tyres for construction and mining vehicles, radial tyres for aircraft, radial tyres for motorcycles.
Geographically, Bridgestone aims to focus on Asia and specifically China and India
In terms of the upstream supply chain, Bridgestone said its policy is the, "Optimization of tyre performance and costs, starting with raw materials in the upstream areas of the supply chain, and connecting this optimization to specific downstream sales initiatives"
