Costa Rica - Bridgestone de Costa Rica, S.A. (BSCR) said its new Financial Shared Services Center for the Latin American Region will be located in Costa Rica. The company will also invest around $70 million over five years to increase the flexibility of its tyre factory in La Ribera de Belen in Heredia.
The news came in a statement from the Costa Rican Investment Board (CINDE). No-one from Bridgestone was available to comment.
CINDE said the new financial centre would create around 100 jobs in the city. CINDE quoted Humberto Gomez, President of BATO LA saying, â€œThis structure will improve financial services for the business units throughout Latin America,â€ adding, â€œThis 'Center of Excellence' will help the company grow and leverage the talents of all our teammates so they can provide world-class service to our Latin America businesses now and into the future.â€
Another Bridgestone Americas' subsidiary, Firestone Industrial Products Company, LLC (FSIP), invested $18 million in Costa Rica to open an air springs plant in 2009. The plant, located in Turrialba, employs roughly 160 people.
