Akron, Ohio -- A Schulman Inc.'s Board of Directors has extended chairman, president and CEO Joseph Gingo's employment agreement by two years to 31 December 31 2014, the plastics compounds and resins supplier said in a 23 May announcement. Gingo's previous contract was set to expire at the end of December 2012.

"I am especially pleased the board has given me this opportunity to continue the company's successful strategic journey to achieve sustained profitable growth and shareholder value creation," Gingo said in the statement

Gingo has been CEO and president of A Schulman since 1 January 2008. He was named Chairman of the Board on 26 February 2008. Previously, he spent more than 40 years with the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company where he held various executive positions.

Gingo earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Case Institute of Technology (now Case Western Reserve University), and a law degree from the University of Akron. He received a master's degree in business management from the Sloan Fellowship program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
