Zeon sees sales rise in 2010, but expects profits to fall this year

Tokyo -- Zeon Corp said sales for its elastomers division in the 12 months to March 2011 increased to yen 173 434 million (euro 1503 million) from yen 138 287 million a year earlier. Operating income in elastomers jumped to yen 28 186 million from yen 9347 million in 2010.
Zeon said it sold 329 kt of solid rubber in the year, for a total of yen 121 380 million. This is an increase of 8.9 percent in volume, but 27.1 percent by value. In latices, the figure was 148.7 kt for yen 21 395 million: a 3.7 percent increase in volume, but a 20.6 percent in crease in value.
The company expects sales in the elastomer business to increase slightly to yen 179 400 million, for the 12 months ending march 2012, but it expects profits to fall to yen 17 700 million.
