Volkswagen fits Cordiant tyres as OE on Russian Polo
ERJ staff report (DS)
Moscow -- Sibur - Russian Tyres has begun shipping Cordiant-brand tyres to Volkswagen for fitting as original equipment on Polo cars produced at VW's plant in Kaluga, Russia.
The decision to use Cordiant brand, said S-RT, came after extensive laboratory and road tests, as well as auditing of production facilities and business processes of the Holding Company Sibur - Russian Tyres. The first cars equipped with Cordiant tyres will come off the assembly line in June 2011.
Talks on the supply of Cordiant tyres for other brands in the Volkswagen Group Rus, are on-going. Total deliveries by the end of the year may amount to 100 thousand units, said S-RT.
S-RT said it supplies Cordiant brand tyres as OE to several Russian car models, including Renault Logan, Renault Sandero, and is negotiating with several other foreign automakers, which have localised production in Russia.
"Automakers have high demands not only to the consumer qualities of tyre products, but also to the process of production," said Anna Komarova, director of marketing Sibur - Russian Tyres .
