Phillips Carbon sees sales, profits rise in full year

Kolkata, India -- Phillips Carbon Black Ltd said sales and profits both increased significantly in the 12 months to 31 March 2011 and the three months to 31 March.
For the full year, Phillips said it made an operating profit of Rs 1926 million (euro 30.3 million) on net sales of Rs16 901 million (euro 266 million). In the previous year the company saw operating profit of Rs 1592 million on net sales of Rs 12 351 million.
In the carbon black unit, full-year sales amounted to Rs 16 141 million (from Rs 11780 million) and pre-tax profits were stable at Rs 1487 million (from Rs 1421 million)
In the last quarter (ended 31 March), Phillips carbon black unit recorded sales of Rs 4232 million, up substantially from the figure of Rs 3473 million a year earrlier, but pre-tax profits fell to Rs 412 million compared with Rs 465 million a year earlier.
