Lanxess launches DEHP-free plasticiser for rubber
ERJ staff report (DS)
Leverkusen, Germany - Lanxess AG has developed a plasticiser for polar rubber products crosslinked with sulphur. The comapny says its product, Vulkanol VP RUC 9210 improves low-temperature flexibility of vulcanisates and replaces the phthalate-containing Vulkanol 81 in its portfolio.
The company said one of the target aims in developing the new grade was to produce a drop-in replacement in most compounds. The new additive no longer uses DEHP -- di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate.
Lanxess' rubber chemicals business is part of its performance chemicals segment, which recorded sales of EUR 1.53 billion in fiscal 2009.
