Petlas expanding car tyre capacity - reports

Kirsehir, Turkey -- Turkish tyre maker, Petlas increased sales in 2009, compared with 2008, according to local press reports.
The Turkish paper Hurriyet quoted company officials saying tat the company plans to invest further in capacity. It increased employment to almost 1000 people in 2008, while exports reach $93 million in the same year. The paper quoted officials saying Petlas has invested $55 million in modernisation in the last 2.5 years and expects to invest a further $50 million to increase output of passenger car tyres by a factor of 2.5 in the coming year. The equipment has been ordered and the first phase of the expansion is due on stream in the first quarter of 2010, and over 150 new jobs wil be added.
