Malaysian rubber production rose slightly in February

Kuala Lumpur -- Malaysia produced 81 031 tonnes of natural rubber in February 2010, up by 12 percent on the same month a year ago, but down by 25 percent on the previous month.

The country exported 65 296 tonnes in February 2010, compared with 59 836 tonnes a year previously and 69,549 tonnes in January.

Imports reached 50,362 tonnes in February, just 3.2 percent ahead of the previous February, but significantly down on the 73,126 tonnes recorded in January 2010.

In February 2010, rubber prices continued its uptrend. The average monthly price of latex concentrate reached 702.31 sen, rising by 6.9% compared to January 2010. When compared to February 2009, a very high increase of 72.9% was achieved.
