Hannover -- ContiTech Conveyor Belt Group has acquired the operations Â of Flexowell and Pocketlift conveyor belts from Finnish company Metso, the company said 1 April.
ContiTech Transportbandsysteme GmbH is taking over the Moers, Germany, plant of Metso Minerals (Deutschland) GmbH, part of the Finnish Metso Group, the statement said. Around 60 people are employed at the plant, which produces Flexowell and Pocketlift conveyor belts that are mainly used in the mining, chemical and steel industries for loose bulk material and steep inclines.
â€œBy doing this we are globally opening up additional markets for ContiTech and are developing our capacities for special conveyor belts,â€ said Hans-JÃ¼rgen Duensing, head of ContiTech Coveyor Belt Group. â€œThe purchase represents the acquisition of additional know-how and numerous special belt patents for ContiTech. This consolidates our market position,â€ Duensing added.
Manufacturing will continue at the Moers plant, transfer of business is planned for 1 May 2010. Financial details were not disclosed.
